“Words and pictures are yin and yang. Married, they produce a progeny more interesting than either parent.”

I've always read, from a really early age I used to have books that were part of the 'Read To Yourself' series and when I was really young I used to find it easier to read aloud and I distinctly sitting in my living room and reading a book when my Father asked me what it said on the front, I told him it said 'Read to Yourself' he answered that he suggests that's what I should do then, since then I have escaped inside my head to where the stories take me.
When I was in my darkest depths of depression I would spend most days with my head in a book it as the perfect way to not have to face my own pain.
Now though I still read, not as much though, but sometimes I like to not have to concentrate so much, magazines nowadays bore me; I don't particularly care about who is sleeping with whom and the bigger mags seem to be all a little pretentious to me, so toward the end of last year I started reading Graphic Novels and have since found them quite enjoyable.
Having an older daughter who is very much into her art I started on these because of the artwork that is in them. I have also borrowed novels from the library, this is always a good place to start if I'm wanting to look into a new series.
At the moment I am very much into a series called Saga
, it's the story of two opposing 'aliens' who fall in love and have a baby together. They are meant to be enemies as their worlds are at war. The graphics themselves are epic. The story is a seemingly good love story with a bit of fighting and sex thrown in. The story is aimed at adult types because of the adult nature of the pictures.
This Christmas I was gifted the Marvel Origin Stories and Xmen the Ultimate guide books too. I'm so excited to learn a bit more about the start up of the stories of how Graphic Novels start.
Anything new for you this year?
