Steampunk-a-go-go

Howdy all.

Well I have finally got a little crafty mojo back, I think.  I'm sorry if this post gets all a little weird in places, I'm not feeling 100% so delirious I think is what people call it.  Do you know what, since just after Christmas someone in the family has been ill, it is really turning into a sick house here.  I think I will have to bust out the sage and do a quick sweep of the house from top to bottom. Anyway I digress, crafting.
If you remember my last post was all about the Crafty Creatives March 2013 box full of Steampunk Goodies, I was really looking forward to this but boy, is Steampunk hard.  I didn't realise how precise and particular you had to be to get the cogs and bits to 'make sense' and not look like they were just 'bits stuck on'.  I enjoyed making the trinket box and still have the kids asking if they could have it!

So here are some photos.

As you can see, the cogs and things still look like they have just been stuck on but I did try to get them to maybe have a function.  The two cogs on the top of the box are both cardboard and just shooshed up a bit (I think shoosh should be a word, don't you?), those cogs do correspond to the watch interior picture on the inside of the box.  And you should always have an all seeing eye inside little boxes so people who shouldn't be there get caught out.

I was so unsure what to do with the beautiful tweed fabric but I knew I wanted to make something with it and not for it to languish in my stash.  So I rifled through some of my other bits and pieces to see if I could come up with something a little different.  I was then struck with an idea from another kit which was a free gift from a magazine and behold, a purse is born!
All hand stitched and the leather wasn't as bad to sew with as I thought it would be.  Now to find some guineas and crowns to fill it with.

So they were my makes, so far from the Crafty Creatives March box.  What did you make with yours?
